All Things!

In the complexity of today’s world do we ever stop to remind ourselves that it was God who created all things?  If you are then wondering why there is so much evil in today’s world maybe you should go back to the beginning and attempt to understand the reason God allowed evil in the first place.

You would have to admit that we cannot truly understand goodness until we have at least tasted of evil.  God gave us everything hoping goodness would be returned multiplied; He wanted as much from us as He originally gave to us – the best!  However, we would have to give as He has given – our all.

You would think that would show a process of up and down as we have learned most things the hard way.  However, we seem to have taken the harder road more often because of our thinking that God would protect us by giving us all we need if we only would believe.  It shouldn’t take you long to realize that humans beings seem to only really learn from experience, not simply from reading the instructions set down by other humans who have learned the hard way.  You will just have to realize that God knew that true learning only comes from experience whether it’s yours or the acceptance of what others have already learned and shared.

So, we have the answer, now what do we do about it?  We could go to the library and see what books they have regarding the learning process, but why would a smart person go to all the trouble when all the answers have already been compiled into one single book?  Yes, we still do have to have an open and discerning mind, but that one book provides all we will ever need -  the Word of God recorded at His allowance down through our world’s beginning years for our growth and acceptance.  What a simple answer!  Why do you reckon we have so long disregarded the easy answer?  Mankind seems to have been conceived with a choice (I can do it my way).  Why do you reckon God chose that way?  Do you think He might have known that what mankind would mostly desire would come only from his limited knowledge learned through his own experiences?  It would seem if we look closely that is what has happened.  It doesn’t take much thought to see that a  hungry person would want what makes a lot of us very happy – a good meal three times a day and a bit of coin for the things others have that we don’t.  Hmm!

God’s Word in the very first book of the Bible tells us – Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness (1:1) and So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them (27).  If you spend time at all observing how other people behave and what they say, do you ever walk away aware of hearing something of our Creator in the conversation?  I venture to say that occurs rarely although there are times when you spend time realizing you have been blessed with this or that friend through whom you feel the presence of our God.

In the process do thoughts come across your memory of times when something a person says or does really turns your thoughts and thankfulness to the eternal and a glorious future?  I surely hope so for in that moment everything in life that has lost its luster again exhibits glory.  Our Father knew there would be times when we would fail or get lost in the activity of the day, but He also knew there would be those times we would be grateful for His foresight and love for the children He created.

Have Thine own way, Lord, have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being Absolute sway.
Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always living in me!
